Assistant Beverage Manager

The most exciting cruise line in the world, Royal Caribbean International, is expanding tremendously and is offering one of the most competitive packages within the cruise industry. We are currently hiring exceptional Assistant Beverage Managers to join our talented shipboard staff!

Purpose

Responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Reporting to the beverage manager, you will be responsible for 3 to 7 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 40 to 70 employees each.

  • Ensuring that the bars operate efficiently to quality requirements and standards,  
  • Monitoring the bar staff and providing a high degree of “Floor presence”
  • Continuously monitoring USPH procedures for sanitation and cleanliness.
  • Providing on-the-job training to improve your team’s current performance, and prepare them for advancement.
  • Meeting with staff to review guest comments to implement revisions and improvements
  • Planning, assigning and directing work
  • appraising performance; rewarding and providing corrective action
  • training employees on all aspects of service and selling techniques;
  • addressing complaints and resolving problems for both employees and guests
  • managing the financial aspects of the beverage operation, including
    • operating the bar within the budget requirements, and
    • successful identification of expense reduction through cost control
  • Performing any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.

Hiring Requirements

Two to Three years managerial experience in bar operations with 4 or 5 star hotels, restaurants or high volume food service facilities. Extensive knowledge of varying brands and quality of liquors, wine and beers. Ability to read, interpret and demonstrate the preparation of drink recipes. Extensive knowledge of beverage handling procedures with regard to public health standards.

2 – 3 years experience simultaneously managing 3-4 venues and managing a staff of 35 +

Must posess the capability to accommodate a 4 months on / 2 months off contract schedule for this onboard position

Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety software packages such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.

  • This position is located onboard one of our vessels.
  • All International applicants must have the ability to obtain a C1D Visa
  • Shipboard employees must be able to physically lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without aid
  • Foreign language skills are preferred, but not required
