Electrician

PURPOSE

BASIC FUNCTION: Duties as directed by Chief Electrician. Maintenance and repair of electrical installation in work priority directed by Chief Electrician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Duties as directed by the Chief Electrician.
• Assist the Chief Electrician with all repair and maintenance.
• Maintenance and repair of electrical installation in work priority directed by Chief Electrician.
• Additional routines and work as assigned by supervisor.

This is a generic position description for all Electricians, it shall serve as a base for specific job descriptions made by the Chief Electrician and approved by the Chief Engineer, for the number of Electrician positions on the ship. The specific job descriptions shall list the assigned duties for each position.

Each Electrician shall receive his specific job description in writing from the Chief Electrician, when he signs on the ship or if the job description has been changed.

Recommendation:

Responsibility for maintenance of the installations/equipment-listed bellow should be distributed among the electricians, in their specific job descriptions, as applicable:

• Emergency and auxiliary generator and systems
• Emergency and auxiliary switchboards
• Forklifts
• Sliding doors to deck (pneumatic)
• Stabilizers
• Fire alarm system including fire door control system and fire dampers
• Watertight doors control system
• Side shell doors
• Water fog system
• CO2 system
• Lifeboats and rescue boats – electrical installations.
• Winches and lifeboats.
• Mooring and anchor winches.
• Deck cranes and lifting devices.
• Platform lifts (engine / provision / deck store).
• Potable water treatment systems.
• Dumb lifts.
• Earth fault surveillance systems.
• Camera Surveillance System.
• Public Address system.
• Public clock system.
• Laundry equipment.
• Aquarium.
• Swimming pool and whirlpool systems (water treatment).
