Electronic Engineer

PURPOSE

BASIC FUNCTION: Duties as directed by the Chief Electrician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Training of electricians and assistant electricians.
• Additional routines and work as assigned by Chief Electrician.
• Request additional manpower as needed (from the Chief Electrician) for repair and maintenance under his responsibility.
• Keep the Chief Electrician verbally informed on a daily basis the status of all areas of responsibility.
• Assist the Chief Electrician with the Division’s budget proposals.
• This is a generic position description for the Electronic Engineer, it shall serve as a base for specific job descriptions made by the Chief Electrician and approved by the Chief Engineer. The specific job descriptions shall list the assigned duties for each position.

The Electronic Engineer shall receive his specific job description in writing from the Chief Electrician, when he signs on the ship.

Recommendation:

Responsibility for maintenance of the installations/equipment-listed bellow should be assigned to the Electronic Engineer, in their specific job descriptions, as applicable:

• Navigation Equipment, including follow up of all service/work by contractors.


• Daily communication with the Navigation Officers regarding the state of the bridge equipment, including responding to any comments in the “electrical fault” log book located on the Bridge
.

• All entertainment systems, like Show lights, Audio/ Video, including related antenna systems.


• Stage rigging equipment, including platform lifts and curtains.


• Daily communication with Stage and Production Manager, Sound Technician, Light Technicians


• Broadcast Technicians.


• Telephone exchanges, including related equipment like telephone sets and personal pagers.


• All UPS systems including batteries, except emergency lighting UPS.


• Camera Surveillance System.


• Public Address system.


• Training of electricians and assistant electricians.


• A work report book should be updated daily with detailed information, and kept in the Chief Electricians office for his reference.


• Assist the Chief Electrician with the Division’s budget proposals.


• Additional routines and work as assigned by Chief Electrician.
