ITV Operator

PURPOSE

To operate and maintain all aspects of the Sea Vision Interactive Television System.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Sea Vision Interactive Television System, hardware and software.
• The ITV Operator should take whatever steps necessary to insure the system is full operational at all times. If a given situation makes doing so impossible, the ITV Operator should call technical support immediately, so steps can be taken to restore service as quick as possible.
• In large part, evaluation of performance of the ITV Operator will be directly related to their ability to keep the system running smoothly on their watch.
• Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the system and protecting company Propriety information.
• Provide regular reports to management on the performance of the system, both Technical and financial.
•   Perform public relations and marketing to the passengers and the crew on the  Benefits of the system.
• Routine Administrative procedures such as inventory control, ordering supplies,  confirming receipts of shipments and processing paperwork for shipping items off  the ship.
•    Performing onboard demonstrations of the system for Sea Vision clients, potential clients and advertisers.
• Report to work on time and well groomed, clean, and pleasant at all times, and maintain your personal hygiene in accordance with the standards and procedures  of the ship.
• Be knowledgeable of all general information concerning the ship’s operation to be  able to accommodate, answer and recommend any guest inquiries.
• Attend and participate in all mandatory lifeboat safety drills on embarkation days.

NOTE: Each sailing the ITV Operator will hold an introductory talk entitled,“Getting the Most out of the Sea Vision System.”

On a less formal basis, the ITV Operator will make the best use of his or her personal encounters with the passengers to provide positive encouragement and training on how to enjoy its many services and attributes.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS

JOB SKILLS REQUIRED:

All candidates must be fully P.C. Computer / Network literate.

• Needs to have thorough knowledge and experience in the following platform; DOS and/or UNIX Windows NT 3.51 and/or Windows NT 4.0 Server & Workstation Windows 95
• Must have thorough knowledge of network operating system management, configuration, techniques, and topologies to include Ethernet, thick-net / thin-net, etc.
• Knowledge of 10 Base-T / 100 Base-T HUBS is desired.
• Knowledge of MPEG video and digital photograph and graphic files is desired.
• Knowledge of SCSI devices, particularly hard drives and hard drive controllers is necessary.
• Knowledge of ISA and PCI expansion cards is needed.  This includes video cards, sound cards, Network Interface Cards, etc.

Experience with the following applications is necessary.

Knowledge of Television broadcasting / master control operation is desired.  This is to included knowledge of RF modulation / channel allocation, and video playback.
