Sound Technician

PURPOSE

The Sound Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining and managing all audio, lighting and show control systems on board. Is also responsible for scheduling the Sound Technicians, and coordinating all repair, maintenance and operational maintenance with Chief Electrical Engineer and Stage and Production Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordination of the sound and lighting for production, shows and special events.
• Conducts ongoing operational repair and maintenance of all aspects of audio, lighting and show control system.
• Attend weekly technical meetings with Chief Electrical Engineer and Stage and Production Manager.
• Schedule all Sound Technicians, and submitting weekly sound and light technical reports.
• Maintains the technical quality of all shows.
• Performs scheduled safety and inventory checks.
• Establish weekly repair and maintenance schedule. To be coordinated with Chief Electrical Engineer and Stage and Stage and Production Manager.
• Know and follow all SQM policies
• Understand and can apply in work practices environmental policies and procedures concerning such functions as collection, sorting and disposal of solid wastes and use of chemicals associated with cleaning and laundry operations.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS

Must have a minimum of six years working in Professional Theater.
Education and or comparable work experience in technical theater audio
engineering and or lighting design.

Must have working knowledge of automated audio, lighting and show control systems, i.e. Euphonic, SSL, Yamaha, Etc. Whole Hog, Dataon and Richmond NT/Amiga System.

Must be computer literate on Windows NT, Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.

Must be able to troubleshoot, manage and maintain all aspects of audio, lighting and show control systems.

Must have working knowledge of major theatrical rigging systems, PLC and PC systems.

Ability to read and speak English fluently, analyze and interpret procedural manuals and memos, technical procedures or government regulations.

ave the ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees and guests. Additional language is and advantage.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with ands and arms; talk and hear and taste or smell. In the event of an emergency, the employee may be required to sit, stoop, kneel or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion and arm and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency requiring the lowering of a life boat.
