Stage StaffPURPOSEAssembles and disassembles equipment and props for all shows and activities in the Cruise Director’s Division by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities Primary ResponsibilitiesAll Class Vessels: Reads stage layout specifications and blueprints and confers with Stage and Production Manager to determine type and location of sets, props, scenery, lighting, and sound equipment required for specific event. Gathers and transports props and equipment to designated areas throughout the vessel and ports of call. Assembles props and equipment for a variety of Cruise Director’s Division Activities such as, but not limited to, bingo, horse racing, sports award presentations, pool games, Ship Shape activities, etc. Climbs ladder or scaffolding to ceiling grid, crawls and balances on beams, inserts ends of cables or ropes through ceiling grid, and attaches cables to scenery, curtains, equipment, support pipes, and counterbalance weights. Disassembles props and equipment at the end of the event or activity and returns items to storage area. Positions lighting fixtures on and around stage area, clamps light fixtures to supports, connects electrical wiring from fixtures to power source and control panel, positions sound equipment on and around stage area, and connects electrical lines to power source and mixing console. May operate sound console and/or light boards equipment. Pulls cables that raise and lower scenery, curtains, and equipment and operates lighting and sound equipment during rehearsals and performances, following audio or visual cues. Participates in the assembly and disassembly of equipment and props for special group functions such as, but not limited to, charters, affinity, promotional, incentive, presentations, and various theme night arrangements. Assembles and disassembles pre and post show stage and backstage props and equipment. May assist cast members with costume changes. Returns items to storage area. Performs minor carpentry and painting maintenance on equipment. Maintains inventory of various prize lockers, office supplies and consumable items utilized in the backstage areas. Coordinates with the Activities Manager, Central Stores and Provision area when requisitioning supplies. Participates in the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment on tenders routed to the private islands. Assists the Stage and Production Manager in the loading and unloading of luggage and equipment for those in the Guest Entertainment Program. As needed, assembles and disassembles video equipment and may operate equipment. Operates spotlight equipment for production shows according to instructions as needed, when stage staff are required to perform duties backstage. Attends mandatory rehearsals as required. Voyager Class Vessels: Operates ice-resurfacing machine. Assist Studio B Manager with the maintenance of the ice skating rink and associated inventory of ice resurfacing equipment. Participates in the conversion of the ice rink to main theatre for Cruise Director Division activities. Participates in the assembly and disassembly of equipment and props for all shows, activities, events, in Studio B, main theatre Royal Promenade and other public areas as needed. Overall: Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required Performs related duties as required. Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management. Hiring Requirements:One to two years experience in the assembly and disassembly of stage equipment and props. Familiarity of stage productions. Background in electrical, technical, light and sound preferred. Ability to perform minor theatrical repair work such as carpentry and painting. Ability to assist cast members with costume changes. Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred. Internal Candidate Requirements: In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates are required to fulfill the following: Completion of one full contract with a performance rating of satisfactory or above.
